Don Culwell

Co-Founder, Principal

In his early teens Don Culwell, captivated by movies like Star Wars and companies like Industrial Light and Magic, began working small graphics jobs, and at 16, met Mike Halsey. Quickly taking to 3D, Culwell, for the next 20+ years, would take part in groundbreaking productions as co-founder of Magnetic Dreams. Culwell’s experience is vast and his portfolio has a breadth difficult to match. At 21 his 3D art landed the cover art for Post Magazine, and during this time, clients include Dell, Electronic Arts, Coca Cola, Crayola, Nickelodeon, Marvel, and many more. Notably Don’s art direction directly contributed to Taylor Swift’s iconic video Fifteen being nominated for an Mtv Music Award (Best Video of the Year).  In coordination with Mike, Don was also a pioneer for the RedShift rendering engine and Shotgun software, both which featured Magnetic Dreams as a result. Don currently serves as principal and co-founder at Magnetic Dreams, and, as expert in animation and effects, leads production and the company from a visionary, artistic, and technical standpoint, all the while maintaining his team before the captain attitude.
